NJP consultants proposed three alternative
solutions for this project. These solutions were mainly
based on the unchangeable principles of the given program.
The main architectural characteristics of each of the
solutions are as follows:
Architectural features of the first solution:
•
Organizing the entrances and exits in two different
levels: This strategy is significantly efficient in
managing the over flow of people and the vehicles when
the airport traffic is higher than usual.
• Spatial legibility of terminals for the passengers.
• Attractive internal space with high potentials.
• Sectional graded organization that has provided
coherent and interrelated public spaces, which are functionally
independent.
• The potential of defining dynamic interrelationship
between the public spaces, the central circulation axis
and the future terminal (arranged symmetrically to the
present one).
• Architectural homogeneity and coherence of the
terminal and the airside concourse.
• Taking the Iranian architectural characteristics
into account.
Architectural features of the second solution:
•
Inducing a well-defined facade at the southern front
by eliminating one of the curbsides in upper levels.
• Creating different attractive spatial sequences.
• Providing open spaces for both the check in
and baggage claim sectors.
• Benefiting from voids to provide direct view
towards the ceiling.
• Optional usage of the public spaces.
• Separating the arriving passengers from the
departing passengers.
• Benefiting from the side-by-side system and
its spatial advantages.
• Taking Iranian architectural characteristics
into account.
Architectural characteristics of the third solution:
• Inducing a well-defined façade for the
southern front by eliminating one of the curbsides in
upper levels.
• Creating different attractive spatial sequences
• Optional usage of public spaces.
• Optional utilization of the terminal’s
front area to accommodate future increase of the airsides.
• Potential of systematic internal regeneration,
in most parts of the terminal.
• Benefiting from the side-by-side system and
its spatial advantages.
• Architectural homogeneity and coherence of the
terminal and the airside concourse.
• Taking Iranian architectural characteristics
into account.
