Site predicted for this project is located at the foot
of Gerdoo Mountain, at the southern part of ARAK, along
the northern plain of Gerdoo valley. In the land preparation
plan (L.P.P), the plots applicable for apartment building
overlook Gerdoo valley.
Design
Objectives
Continuity of pedestrian route has been the main factor
in choosing a well-defined axis across the plots and
has generated the main concept of the project. This
main strategy has deeply influenced the design of the
plots. The pedestrian route starts from the south residential
complex to the north and is continued along the service
facilities zone (predicted in the land preparation plan).
The other design objectives are benefiting from the
splendid view of the valley and congruity with the desirable
latitude. In fact congruity of the pedestrian axis within
the latitude and the proper sight line has shaped the
final plan.
Final
proposal
In this alternative plan the roof of the parking is
devised as a Platform (soffe) on which the apartment
blocks are situated. This Platform functions as a public
space.
This Platform is separated from the street via a broad
outstanding flight of stairs by which the access of
residential blocks to the exterior is defined.
View potential analysis recommended viewing the valley
as the key principle for the arrangement of the blocks.
Views over eastern and northeastern parts were also
distinguished as desirable. On the other hand, potential
exterior viewpoints were analyzed. Based on these studies,
the blocks situated at the edges of the plots were devised
as the focal points from which the first impression
of the complex is conceived. Therefore these blocks
were designed with different functional and formal character.
