Isfahan Region Master Plan
Isfahan-Iran 1984
Isfahan region centered in Isfahan includes lanjan, Khomeini-Shahr, Falavarjan and several rural districts of Isfahan, Najaf-Abad and Qomshe. In fact this region embodies a circle centered in city of Isfahan with a diameter of 80-120 kms. Although this zone covers 58% of the total area of the province but a big fraction of population and major economical and industrial and agricultural potentials and service facilities of the region are housed in this area. About 75% of the overall population of the province inhabits the 32 residential zones of this area.
Regarding the present deficiencies of the subject area – specially water shortage and environmental pollution- the proposed population of this zone would be around 4.5 millions of people.
The objectives of this plan are as follows:

1. Prohibiting the economical development and population increase of the area. (Decentralization)
2. Preserving the agricultural plots and the natural environment
3. Taking Isfahan’s growth under control
4. Modifying the spatial configuration of the zone and providing required dwellings.

The spatial configuration of the plan is based on three axes: an east-west agricultural axis adjacent to the Zayande-Rood River and two other urban-industrial axes one centered in Isfahan and the other centered in Isfahan steel company that both stand perpendicular to the first.
This master plan was procured in General Office of housing and urban development of Isfahan. The principle architect of the project was Seyed Hadi Mirmiran (the present director of NJP.Consulting engineers). The Iranian high Council of Architecture and Urban Development approved this project in 1986.
