A2 Residential block of Pouladshahr
Poulad Shahr-Iran 1971
Block A2 and block A3 are located in district A of Pouladshahr. This zone, which is located in the north, is adjacent to the center of the district A. The commercial center of the city is located in west. The recreational center of the city is located at its south and to the east lays the center of block A1. These two districts cover an area of 900x900m.

Sougera channel (A channel branching from Zayanderood River that irrigates agricultural lands of the district) divides this square plot of land into two nearly equal parts, with block A3 to the west and block A2 to the east. In order to avoid the interrupting impact of the channel on the integrity of these two blocks, and for defining the channel as a connective element between these two, the main block elements are placed on the sides of the channel and the houses occupy the remaining parts, thus the channel constitutes the pedestrian route of the two blocks. The mentioned plot was divided into 36 modules of 150x150m.by hypothetical lines along which the subterranean infrastructural network lies. Each module comprises houses of different heights; the units adjacent to the channel contain the main elements of the block center.

A main traffic loop enriches the block and is connected to the city traffic network. Secondary roads branch off the main loop and penetrate to the block, and into the public parking. Thus the internal pedestrian network of each block is kept safe. In times of emergency Vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines may use additional secondary accesses, originally devised as pedestrian routes.
Two pedestrian accesses-the main pedestrian routes of the blocks- are predicted on two sides of the channel, interconnected by bridges.

The secondary pedestrian routes, that establish connection between different elements of blocks, are perpendicular to the channel and subterranean infrastructures located beneath them.
The green areas are organized in three categories: The green area around the channel, the green area along the pedestrian routes of the blocks and the green area surrounding the houses.
Modules allocated to houses, comprise groups of different heights. Those nearer to the channel are lower in height and the houses that stand along the road are higher.
